Jordan's Investment Ministry issued a prequalification call on 15 October for the Mujib pumped-storage electricity project, to be developed in partnership with the private sector. The ministry's project description gives it a capacity of 450 megawatts and seven hours of storage.

The closed-loop system near the existing Mujib Dam is designed to reuse water between two reservoirs and use two reversible pumping and generation units rated at 225 MW each. The ministry says surplus daytime electricity would be returned to the grid during evening peaks. Energy-security and renewable-integration benefits are expected outcomes, not results already measured.
