Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy said on 18 October that three natural-gas wells had been completed at the Mnazi Bay field. Minister Juma Zuberi Homera said two were development wells and one was an exploration well, drilled by the Tanzania Petroleum Development Corporation with partner M&P.

The ministry reported a new gas discovery but said its volume would be announced later. The 57.54 trillion cubic feet cited in the release is the existing reported national quantity, not the size of the new discovery. The government also said it expected to unveil the wells the following week in Msimbati village, Mtwara.
