Tanzania current-account deficit widened in the second quarter

A Bank of Tanzania balance-of-payments workbook published October 2 records a current-account deficit of US$1,781.9 million in the second quarter of 2026, compared with US$79.8 million in the first quarter.

The Bank of Tanzania’s quarterly balance-of-payments file records the current-account balance at minus US$1,781.9 million for April–June 2026. The same table shows minus US$79.8 million for January–March. The values are from the bank’s quarterly series, expressed in millions of US dollars.

The comparison covers flows in each quarter; it is not an annual total or a seasonally adjusted series. The bank’s download page dates the release October 2.
