Fili Poultry Farm, part of the Sharjah Agricultural and Livestock Production Establishment (Ektifa), became the first farm in the United Arab Emirates to receive the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology's Free-Range Label, Emirates News Agency (WAM) reported on 15 October. A ministry official said the label verifies compliance with approved requirements and standards.
An Ektifa official said the label covers the farm's slow-growing poultry, raised under a free-range system without hormones. The report also described a feed blend containing organic wheat and corn, soybeans, turmeric, vegetable oils and several herbs; it said the ministry encouraged other UAE farmers to seek the label.
