Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif directed officials to prepare a comprehensive gas load-management plan for the coming winter and take measures in advance at an energy-planning meeting in Islamabad on 6 October. He also called for a public-awareness campaign on the strategy.

Officials told the meeting that households would receive priority for locally produced gas, while RLNG would be prioritised for power generation and industry. They said measures were being taken to maintain transmission from northern reserves. The report did not give supply volumes or a schedule for any load management.
