GE Vernova announced rotor life-extension agreements on September 23 for five 9F gas turbines at Egypt’s Kureimat, Nubaria and Cairo North plants. The orders were booked in the second quarter of 2026.
Services planned for 2028–2035 are expected to extend rotor life by 13–15 years. Approximately 1,250 MW denotes these turbines’ existing combined capacity, rather than new power generation capacity.
In an IEA scenario, electricity could cost-effectively supply 33 percent of final energy use by 2035; projected import savings are not realized outcomes.
The utility’s long-term plan projects lower emissions despite rising electricity demand; its solar, battery and reverse-osmosis targets are not completed outcomes.
