The competitive tender selects an investor to finance, operate and maintain prebuilt transmission assets; it is not a construction contract for the wind farm.

Hornsea 3 is located more than 100 kilometres offshore in the North Sea and is due for completion by the end of 2027. Ofgem projects that the wind farm could power 3.3 million homes.
