Norwegian commercial accommodation logged 5.54 million August guest nights

Statistics Norway recorded 5,542,649 guest nights at commercial accommodation in August, the highest level for that month in the series.

The total was 24,000 higher than a year earlier, a 0.4% increase. The source rounds guest nights to about 3 million for Norwegian residents and 2.5 million for foreign visitors; the increase in foreign nights offset the domestic decline.

Hotel guest nights increased 3%; campsites and holiday dwellings and youth hostels each fell 3.4%. A guest night counts one person staying one night, so one visitor can contribute several nights.
