Statistics Indonesia counted 1.60 million international visitor arrivals in August 2026, up 6.27% from a year earlier and 4.89% from July. These are visits rather than a count of unique people. Domestic tourist trips reached 104.30 million, an 11.47% annual increase, while Indonesian residents’ outbound trips totalled 643,690, down 6.02%.

The room occupancy rate at star-class hotels was 52.52%, 2.01 percentage points above August 2025 but 2.02 points below July 2026. The different indicators describe arrivals, domestic and outbound journeys, and hotel use; they should not be added together or treated as interchangeable measures of people.
