In a 9 October report based on ComexStat, the federal trade database, Sudene said 415 of Northeast Brazil’s 1,794 municipalities recorded exports from January to September 2026, with combined sales of US$20.6 billion. The ten largest municipal exporters accounted for US$11 billion.

The product mix included soybeans, corn, petroleum and derivatives, minerals, metals, chemicals, pulp and cars. Sudene cautioned that the municipality in the statistics is the company’s tax domicile and does not necessarily indicate where a product was made. The figures therefore map exporters’ registered locations rather than production sites.
