Livestock Development Minister Idi Mukhtar Maiha said on October 15, during a meeting with an FCT animal husbandry delegation, that the ministry intended to assess grazing reserves, livestock markets and other facilities in the territory. It cited infrastructure needs for rehabilitating grazing areas, including schools, housing, temporary clinics, boreholes and solar-powered water systems.

Maiha said measures to curb cattle movement in the city centre would come only after designated settlements had safe, adequate facilities for pastoralists, families and animals. The ministry said the World Bank-assisted L-PRES programme would support FCT livestock interventions in veterinary care, infrastructure, vaccines, farm inputs and boreholes. The source gave no implementation timetable or count of completed facilities.
