New Found Gold said on September 16 that it had declared commercial production at its wholly owned Hammerdown gold mine in central Newfoundland. The company defined the milestone through sustained criteria over 60 days at the Pine Cove mill: at least 600 tonnes processed per day, at least 80% gold recovery and feed grade of at least 80% of the mine-plan head grade.

The company said the criteria were met on August 19, with average throughput of about 748 tonnes per day and gold recovery of 87.7% across the 60-day period. These are reported operating averages, not annual production guidance. The mine also produced 9,140 ounces of gold during the first eight months of 2026.
