Mozambique exported 33 sesame consignments totalling 1,400 tonnes to the European Union and 31 consignments totalling 5,000 tonnes to Japan from January to September 2026, with no rejections in either market, according to IAOM. It separately reported 48,915 tonnes in total oilseed exports during the period.

The institute said this was the first rejection-free result in the two markets in five years; 14 Mozambican sesame lots had been rejected over the preceding three years. IAOM linked the change to mandatory digital pre-shipment certification and traceability, while the release itself provides no independent food-safety audit.
