Microsoft announced a public-preview integration between Agent 365 and Azure API Management on October 9 for MCP servers and tools. Agent 365 maintains inventory and access decisions; Azure API Management enforces supported decisions at the gateway.

Administrators can discover MCP servers behind connected gateways and add them to a central inventory. Azure API Management v2 tiers support inventory and server-level blocking; the AI Gateway tier adds controls to block individual tools. Microsoft says Defender and Purview can evaluate tool requests and results for threats and sensitive information. Agents must be configured to use the gateway endpoint.
