Mexico light-vehicle sales rise 8% in September

INEGI’s preliminary administrative register counted 129,288 light vehicles sold in Mexico in September 2026, 8% more than a year earlier.

A preliminary results bulletin released by INEGI on October 2 put September domestic-market sales at 129,288 vehicles. That was 9,522 above the 119,766 reported for September 2025. Sales from January through September totalled 1,144,002, up 5% from 1,089,151 in the same period last year.

The register draws on 30 companies that produce or market vehicles in Mexico: 22 affiliated with the Mexican Automotive Industry Association and eight that are not members. INEGI said Motornation did not supply total sales for September 2026. The monthly results are preliminary; a fuller report by make, model, production and exports was scheduled for October 7.
