BITRE counted 132,748 vehicles entered on Australia’s Register of Approved Vehicles in August 2026, 12.5% above August 2025. Electric-vehicle entries totalled 28,639, up 88.5% year on year.
A register entry does not mean a vehicle was sold. The bureau compiles these figures from administrative records under the Road Vehicle Standards Act; the RAV total excludes second-stage manufacture entries.
