Mauritania’s Energy and Petroleum Ministry signed a comprehensive agreement with CWP Global for the Aman green-hydrogen project in Nouakchott on September 16, 2026. The official news agency said the agreement establishes a long-term contractual framework for later phases and defines financial, economic and development aspects of implementation.

The project aims to produce approximately 1.2 million tonnes of green hydrogen and 6.6 million tonnes of green ammonia annually. CWP Global said it had entered front-end engineering design and wanted a final investment decision before 2030. The quantities are project targets rather than current output; the agreement was not described as an EPC construction award.
