Tokyo core inflation rose to 2.7% in September

Consumer prices across Tokyo's 23 wards rose 2.7% year over year in September. The index excluding fresh food also increased 2.7%, while the measure excluding fresh food and energy rose 3.0%.

In preliminary data published on October 2, Japan's Statistics Bureau said the all-items consumer price index for Tokyo's 23 wards rose 2.7% year over year in September, reaching 102.5 on a 2025=100 basis. The index excluding fresh food also rose 2.7% over the year.

The index excluding fresh food and energy increased 3.0% year over year. The seasonally adjusted all-items index was up 0.6% from August. These are preliminary results for the Tokyo ward area, not the final September CPI for Japan as a whole.
