Italy allocates €30 million for olive groves affected by Xylella

The agriculture ministry announced a €30 million programme on 15 October to replant olive groves affected by Xylella fastidiosa or convert them to other tree crops. The ministry said support may also cover trees uprooted since April 2019 and that AGEA will process applications through the SIAN system.

The ceilings are €15,000 per hectare and €600,000 per project; the per-hectare cap applies to groves with more than 201 trees. The ministry says the disease has caused the loss of more than 10 million olive trees. That loss figure is the ministry’s estimate.
