IllustrationStatistics Indonesia’s August 2026 transport release shows divergent movements across modes. Domestic air passengers numbered 4.839 million, down 3.43% from July, while international air passengers reached 1.9 million, up 7.25%. Domestic sea passengers fell 15.19% to 2.7 million; river, lake and ferry passengers rose 0.84% to 4.7 million.
Rail carried 48.3 million passengers, 7.29% fewer than in July, while rail freight rose 3.38% to 6.7 million tonnes. Domestic sea freight was 46.9 million tonnes, up 1.27%. Passenger counts represent transport movements, not unique people, and the month-on-month comparisons should be kept separate from the cumulative January–August series.
