India’s agricultural export agency APEDA said it facilitated the first export consignment of organic palmyra jaggery powder from Tamil Nadu to Bulgaria. The 1.755-metric-tonne shipment travelled from Gobichettipalayam to Varna and was flagged off on 15 October. The product carried NPOP and EU organic certification.

APEDA said the initiative covers 137 acres under organic cultivation in Erode district and is intended to strengthen market links for producers. It reported farmer price realisation about 15–22% above the domestic market and a 17% higher price for the manufacturer; these are comparisons stated by the agency.
