IEA deepens its forecast decline in 2026 oil demand

The September report projects an annual fall of 2.5 million barrels per day.

In its report published on 11 September, the International Energy Agency enlarged its projected demand decline by 940,000 barrels per day. This is a full-year forecast, not a completed annual result.

The report puts August global production at 100.1 million barrels per day, down 1.6 million from July. Observed oil inventories fell by 95 million barrels during August.
