The International Energy Agency’s Governing Board said on October 15 that oil markets remained tight, particularly for diesel. It said about 330 million barrels had been released under the March 2026 collective action and agreed to complete the roughly 100 million barrels remaining in a timely manner, consistent with national circumstances.

The statement said some members had released more than initially pledged, so the total is expected to exceed the original 400 million barrels. The board also noted plans to accelerate the remaining releases, including more than 20 million barrels of diesel as soon as possible; this does not mean those volumes have already been delivered.
