New Zealand announced on 15 October that Winstone Aggregates had received fast-track approval to expand Hunua Quarry. The project deepens the Symonds Hill Pit to access additional greywacke.

The stated peak processed-aggregate capacity is up to 5.4 million tonnes annually, not actual production. Approval includes conditions covering truck traffic and environmental effects.
