Hong Kong's retail sales value rose 5.6% year over year to HK$32.1 billion in August, according to a provisional estimate. Online sales increased 9.9% and accounted for 8.7% of the total.

Value rose 5.6% year over year and sales volume, after adjusting for price changes, increased 2.9%. For January through August, sales value was 8.5% above the same period a year earlier.
Online sales value reached HK$2.8 billion, up 9.9% year over year and equal to 8.7% of total retail sales. Sales of jewellery, watches and valuable gifts rose 11.9%, while motor vehicles and parts fell 22%. The August figures are provisional estimates.
