Catalonia’s business agency ACCIÓ reported on October 18 that GreenBioPeptides had filed for protection of peptide extracts derived from plant proteins. The Esplugues de Llobregat company has a European application and international PCT filing for its black-bean extract BPE-1, alongside a second European application covering new extracts from Mediterranean aromatic plants.

According to the agency, the company’s BPE Explorer platform combines bioinformatics, AI models and biological knowledge to prioritize peptides for laboratory validation. The company received advice from ACCIÓ’s intellectual-property team and is discussing co-development, licensing and supply models with cosmetics brands and manufacturers. The extract filings are applications rather than confirmation of granted patents.
