Euro area job vacancy rate falls to 2.1% in the second quarter

Eurostat’s release shows a decline from the first quarter’s 2.3%.

The job vacancy rate was 2.1% in the euro area and 2.0% in the EU in the second quarter of 2026, according to the 15 September release. First-quarter rates were 2.3% and 2.1% respectively.

The indicator measures vacant posts as a share of occupied and vacant posts combined. These non-seasonally adjusted rates do not measure unemployment or the number of new hires.
