EU employment rate reaches 76.4% in the second quarter

The seasonally adjusted rate for ages 20–64 rose by 0.1 percentage points from the previous quarter.

The EU employment rate for people aged 20–64 reached 76.4% in the second quarter of 2026, Eurostat reported on 11 September. It was 76.3% in the first quarter.

Labour market slack remained at 11.0% of the extended labour force. This measure includes people with unmet employment needs beyond the unemployed and should not be equated with the unemployment rate.
