EU residents made 1.20 billion trips for personal or professional reasons in 2025, 17 million or 1.4% more than in 2024, according to Eurostat data published on October 9. Of the total, 848 million were domestic and 264 million were international trips to another EU country; figures are rounded.

Ninety-two percent of trips by EU residents stayed within the EU and 8% went outside it. Spending was reported at €266.2 billion for domestic trips and €379.4 billion for foreign trips; foreign-trip spending includes destinations outside the EU and should not be read as intra-EU spending alone.
