Nearly 38,000 investment accounts opened in Ethiopia's capital market

The capital-market regulator's director general said about 187,000 physical securities records have been digitised and daily trading regularly exceeds 50 million birr.

Ethiopian Capital Market Authority (ECMA) Director General Hana Tehelku told the Ethiopian News Agency on 5 October that nearly 38,000 citizens had opened investment accounts, most of them actively trading. She said ECMA oversees 26 registered companies, including seven in the securities market.

Tehelku said roughly 187,000 physical securities records had been digitised into the central depository system. Daily transaction volumes consistently exceed 50 million birr and sometimes top 60 million, she said. The figures describe the authority head's account of the developing market's institutional and digital infrastructure.

Muscat Stock Exchange market value reaches OMR 39.23 billion in September

The Muscat Stock Exchange’s market capitalization rose to OMR 39.23 billion at the end of September. According to Qatar News Agency’s account of exchange data, monthly trading value fell 6.4% to about OMR 914 million while executed trades increased to 199,000.
