Cladding remediation was complete at 1,878 of 4,732 monitored residential buildings at least 11 metres high in England at the end of September 2026, according to a release published on 28 October. The completed share was 40%. The monitored total increased by eight buildings from August.
Work had started or finished at 2,621 buildings, representing 55% of the monitored group. The department said its programme totals cannot simply be added because some buildings appear in more than one programme. A change to social housing data collection also limits comparisons with figures before December 2025.
In the separate aluminium composite material programme, 481 of 516 high-rise residential and publicly owned buildings had completed remediation as of 1 October. Of the 516, 460 had building-control sign-off. Completion of physical works and receipt of formal sign-off are therefore different measures, and these programme counts should not be added to the overall total.
