Egypt opens EGP 1 billion fund for distressed factories
Industry Minister Khaled Hashem invited factories seeking to resume production to apply to the Distressed Factories Restructuring Fund. The fund was established jointly by the Central Bank and the ministry.

The ministry’s statement puts the fund’s total capital at EGP 1 billion. Factories are to register through the “Distressed Factories” service on the Manufacturers Support Platform; applications will be assessed under the fund’s rules and eligibility criteria.
The ministry described the initiative as a way to preserve existing productive capacity, help factories restart and deepen domestic manufacturing. Its statement did not give a target number of factories, payment schedule or approved applications.
