Egypt’s Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources said Minister Karim Badawi met Chevron executives in Athens on October 8, at the end of his visit. The discussion focused on completing procedures, agreements and arrangements needed to connect Cyprus’s Aphrodite natural gas field to Egypt’s existing infrastructure. The ministry said the teams reviewed technical, commercial and legal work.

The next steps described by the ministry are a procurement decision for long-lead items, followed by a final investment decision and project implementation. The statement did not say that procurement or the investment decision had been approved, that the agreements were complete, or that gas was flowing.
