Customs checks produce TRY 10.1 billion in assessments and penalties

The eight-month total rose 32% from the same period a year earlier.

The Trade Ministry reported TRY 10.1 billion in additional assessments and penalty decisions from post-clearance and secondary controls in the first eight months of 2026. The annual increase was 32%.

Secondary controls accounted for TRY 8.3 billion, while post-clearance audits of 160 companies accounted for TRY 1.8 billion. Assessment and penalty decisions do not mean the same sum has already been collected as cash revenue.
