Rio Grande do Sul’s Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Sustainable Production and Irrigation (Seapi) established a Sectoral Council for the Oilseeds and Biodiesel Production Chain on October 14. The state says the consultative body will bring together public agencies, producers, cooperatives, industry and research institutions.

The council is tasked with contributing to policy formulation and review for oilseed and biofuel production, processing and marketing. Its remit also includes research, technology transfer and barriers involving production, logistics, regulation and markets. Participation by invited organizations depends on their acceptance and appointment of representatives. The announcement says Seapi will coordinate 24 sectoral councils with the new body included.
