Brazil’s Energy Research Office (EPE) published a roadmap on October 14 to strengthen the electricity system’s resilience to climate change. It sets out a qualitative and quantitative risk-assessment method based on interactions among hazards, exposure and vulnerability across climate scenarios and time horizons.
The roadmap groups measures into six complementary strategies, from anticipating and preparing for risks to responding to adverse events and recovering the system. EPE said the work draws on six topic briefs covering hydropower, solar, wind, thermal generation, transmission and electricity demand, and completes short-term action CP17 in the country’s reservoir-recovery plan.
