Brazilian retail sales volume rose 0.1% in August from July on a seasonally adjusted basis, after falling 0.8% the previous month. It increased 0.4% year over year, while broader retail volume fell 0.2% on the month.

The monthly increase followed a 0.8% decline in July. The volume measure tracks sales after price effects are removed; it is not sales revenue at current prices.

The survey covers registered retail businesses. The month-to-month change uses a series adjusted for seasonal and calendar effects, and results may be revised as data are updated.
