IBGE’s seasonally adjusted services volume fell 0.1% month to month in August, after no change in July. Volume was 0.6% higher than a year earlier and rose 1.7% in January–August.
The monthly results showed the volume and nominal revenue measures moving in different directions. Volume adjusts for price effects, while nominal revenue records receipts at current prices.
The survey tracks short-term activity in Brazil’s services sector. Its month-to-month volume comparison is seasonally adjusted and should not be treated as a direct comparison of unadjusted cash receipts.
