Bluewater Bio announced on 29 September 2026 a contract award for the upgrade and expansion of the MODON Industrial Wastewater Treatment Plant in Jeddah 1st Industrial City, Saudi Arabia. The project is part of a 20-year Rehabilitate-Operate-Transfer concession that MODON awarded to Miahona. SUECO has been appointed as the EPC contractor, and Bluewater Bio will supply the core biological and tertiary treatment technologies.

Bluewater Bio said its technology package is designed to raise capacity by 60%, from 25 to 40 million litres per day (MLD). The scope covers 14 SMART units, the technology behind the HYBACS process, and six FilterClear systems that will provide 24 MLD of tertiary treated water for reuse through a reverse osmosis plant. The company said the plant serves more than 1,100 factories and is designed to stay fully operational during the upgrade.

Bluewater Bio said the plant upgrade is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2027. The announcement does not state a contract value.
