Namibian President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah visited the Luanda Refinery on 20 October. Angola’s minister for mineral resources, petroleum and gas, Diamantino Azevedo, outlined the history of the country’s oil industry and explained the facility’s operations. The visit took place during the first Angola–Namibia Binational Commission.

The minister renewed President João Lourenço’s invitation for Namibia to participate in the Lobito refinery project, which is under construction and financed by Sonangol, according to the ministry. The source says it is intended to strengthen domestic refining and supply to other sub-Saharan markets, but gives no capacity, agreed investment or completion date.
