The third Africa Policy Forum on Natural Capital was held in Addis Ababa on 6–7 October with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Economic Planning and Development and the World Bank Group. Discussions focused on using natural-capital accounting in public budgets, investment and development planning.
Participants agreed on an action matrix for country-level follow-up. AfDB reported forum estimates that natural resources and ecosystem services contribute about 60% of continental GDP and nature-based sectors account for nearly two-thirds of employment in many countries; these are continent-wide estimates.
