FAO report examines women’s influence in producer organizations
A report launched by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization in Rome on 15 October draws on 31 forest and farm producer organizations supported in 12 countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America. It focuses on how women, young people and Indigenous Peoples can influence decisions, resources and benefits, rather than merely attend meetings.

The report identifies insecure land rights, weak access to markets and finance, unpaid care work and restrictive social norms as barriers. FAO says women hold 36% of elected seats in local deliberative bodies globally; that figure is not specific to producer organizations. Its proposed pathways include inclusive governance, finance and digital inclusion, collective spaces, business development and sustainable land restoration.
