Afghanistan signs $4.518m contract for Spin Ghar talc mine

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said it signed a contract on 8 September with Omar Farooq Talc Processing Company for the Shinwari talc site in Spin Ghar district, Nangarhar. The area is 6.75966 square kilometres and the contract value is $4.5183 million, according to the ministry.

Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said it signed a contract on 8 September with Omar Farooq Talc Processing Company for the Shinwari talc site in Spin Ghar district, Nangarhar. The area is 6.75966 square kilometres and the contract value is $4.5183 million, according to the ministry.

The company pledged to conduct extraction and processing under mining laws. The ministry said the contract sets a royalty of AFN 1,320 per tonne extracted and social services for local residents. This site is separate from the second Shirzad talc block announced the same day.
