Afghanistan signs $65.865m contract for Shirzad talc block
Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said it signed a contract on 8 September with Nangarhar Afghan Talc Mining and Processing Company for the second block at Kudi Khel in Shirzad district, Nangarhar. Afghanistan’s Ministry of Mines and Petroleum said it signed a contract on 8 September with Nangarhar Afghan Talc Mining and Processing Company for the second block at Kudi Khel in Shirzad district, Nangarhar. The area was reported as 3.826394 square kilometres and the contract value as $65.865 million.
The contract sets a royalty of AFN 2,265 for every tonne of talc extracted. The ministry said operations must follow laws and technical standards and that local employment was expected.
