Abu Dhabi's Integrated Transport Centre announced on October 2 an investment of more than AED300 million in a project to upgrade the emirate's public-transport systems. It includes an Automated Vehicle Management system to monitor buses and journeys and manage operations, alongside an integrated digital fare-collection system planned to accept bank cards, digital payments and QR codes.

The contract was awarded to France-based Conduent Business Solutions S.A.S. The source says the company's solutions operate across more than 400 public-transport networks in over 20 countries and that it has more than 50 years of experience; these are company-wide figures, not a count of deployments in Abu Dhabi. The amount above AED300 million is the announced investment value; the source does not give a spending schedule or completed expenditure.
