Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (ADQCC), with ADAFSA and Abu Dhabi Investment Office, developed a guideline for sensory evaluation of novel foods. The 8 October announcement covers technologies including cell-cultivated foods, alternative proteins and precision-fermentation products.

At ADIO’s PALT gathering on 11 October, officials also presented the guideline as support for safe tasting trials and collaboration between industry and regulators. Trials may take place in controlled research settings; ADQCC’s laboratory provides testing and technical evaluation, while ADAFSA reviews applications and issues the required approvals. The framework does not replace full market authorisation.
