Abu Dhabi’s Honey Programme was unveiled on 8 October to support the full value chain for beekeeping and honey production. In its 9 October report, WAM said the plan ranges from healthy bee colonies and improved beekeeping practices to scientific research, disease and pest monitoring, quality testing and certification. It also aims to support investment and marketing to expand the presence of “Abu Dhabi Honey” in international markets.

Officials described the programme as 17 strategic initiatives covering regulation, science, economic development and marketing. They include a governance and licensing framework for beekeepers and hives, a beekeepers association, rules for bee-forage areas and work to develop local Emirati bee strains. ADAFSA said it bred 10 successive generations between 2015 and 2025, produced about 25,000 queen bees and distributed about 19,000 to 613 beekeepers across the UAE.
