The World Bank Group launched its Philanthropy Hub in Bangkok on 12 October. The hub will provide foundations and other partners with a single entry point to the group and aims to identify opportunities for capital, expertise and knowledge that can support development work. The launch took place at the first Philanthropy Forum, held during the IMF–World Bank annual meetings.
More than 200 leaders from foundations, networks, family offices, development institutions and partner organizations attended the forum. AVPN and Temasek Trust signed separate memoranda of understanding with the World Bank Group. AVPN announced a dedicated fund for technical assistance under Health Works, but the source gives no fund size. Health Works’ target of reaching 1.5 billion people with affordable, quality health services is not the fund amount.
