The World Food Programme (WFP) said on 2 October that 18.3 million people across Yemen face acute food insecurity. In its latest monitoring, 74% of households in accessible areas could not meet basic food needs; WFP called this a record level for the year, but did not state the number of households monitored.

WFP said renewed fighting had displaced more than 149,000 people, some already displaced before. In parts of Ta’iz, wheat-flour prices rose 10% in two weeks, and traders estimated stocks would cover about two months of demand. WFP said it was continuing regular assistance for around 2.4 million people facing severe hunger in Government of Yemen areas and needed USD 109 million to scale emergency food and nutrition support for up to 1.5 million people affected by the escalation.
