Uzbekistan reports 228 student medals at international Olympiads in 2026

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said students won 228 medals at international academic Olympiads in 2026 and the country's PISA science ranking rose to 48th.

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev cited education figures in a 1 October message marking Teachers and Mentors Day. He said students won 228 medals at international academic Olympiads in 2026, while 15-year-olds moved up 32 places to 48th globally in PISA scientific literacy.

The message reported 441 joint curricula with foreign universities and international accreditation for 185 university programs. It also said the number of higher-education institutions had grown from 77 to 205, with university enrollment coverage at 45 percent. Over the past decade, kindergarten and school capacity was expanded for 1.8 million children and 1.5 million students, respectively.
